Over the years, the demand for good table saws has increased as the number of DIYers increases as well. However, as the demand increases so have the numerous kinds of table saws, making the act of choosing one quite unnerving.
As much as you might like to get all the bells and whistles of a table saw in one, you will find that you may have to sacrifice a few certain specifications and settle for something that is good enough to get the job done. However, one important feature that should never be sacrificed is precision.
Nowadays, more and more manufacturers are made aware of how important this feature is without sacrificing performance. There are quite a few table saws out there that make it a point to highlight this, including the Rockwell RK7241S Table Saw with Laser. The Rockwell RK7241S Table Saw with Laser is a portable jobsite table saw designed for portability and precision.
Probably one of the best features of the Rockwell RK7241S Table Saw with Laser is its Laser Guide technology, which features a laser cut line indicator that shows you the exact position of the blade. It shows you where your cut is going to land, resulting in some very precise cutting. The line of the laser automatically adjusts to the arrangement of the blade, which is pretty neat when making bevel cuts.
When it comes to portability, the Rockwell RK7241S Table Saw with Laser is easily at the top of the class. It has transport wheels located on the left side and the extended leg acts as a handle. This makes it so easy to push and pull the table saw. Weighing about 88lbs, this unique little add-on makes it easier to transport.
Another unique feature of this table saw is its 30” folding rip fence. This provides wider rip capacity than most of the products available on the market today. Cutting through plywood is a breeze with this extra long rip fence.
The Rockwell RK7241S probably also has the deepest cut, allowing for a maximum depth of 3 and 9/16 inches at a right angle and 2 and 9/16 inches at a 45-degree angle all the way through with ease.
This table saw is pre-assembled, meaning you do not have to take the time and effort to assemble the gear. It comes in already complete so all you need to do is plug it in and you can basically start using it.
Although the laser cut line is quite a good feature, the Rockwell RK7241S Table Saw with Laser lacks the option to align the fence and the blade, which is uncommon for most table saws. A few who have reviewed this product also found that the fence is not as stable as you would expect it to be. You will end up having to measure and make some adjustments after every movement.
They also found that adjusting the bevel of the blade can be quite a challenge. It requires a good amount of effort before you are able to adjust it to your specifications. Another concern is that the height-adjusting wheel of this table saw has the tendency to vibrate, which can cause the blade to raise and lower when in use.
Blade adjustment is factory set which means there is no option to adjust the blade. The miter slots are placed at a non-standard distance which can pose a problem if you already have existing jigs. The Rockwell RK7241S Table Saw with Laser also does not have a left blade tilt so this can be quite a challenge for left-handed users.
True to its word, the Rockwell RK7241S Table Saw with Laser is a good precision table saw that can be used for big and small jobs alike. It is quite sturdy yet easy to transport because of its transport wheels and can be pushed and pulled anywhere.
Although the option of not being able to adjust the blade can pose a few challenges, overall the Rockwell RK7241S Table Saw with Laser is a good, sturdy table saw option.
