A good table saw is without a doubt one of the most useful tools for anybody that works with wood on a daily basis. Whether you are a hobbyist, a carpenter, or a general contractor, a good table saw will provide you with the results you need and the quality your clients deserve.
However, there are so many different table saws out there that picking a certain one can be a bit of a challenge.
Today we are here to talk about one specific table saw, the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw, which is a portable and convenient option.
The Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw is more than ideal for anybody who is always on the go and needs a reliable tool to get the job done. Let’s talk about everything there is to know about the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw!
No matter how much money you plan to spend, you should always plant to get the most bang for your buck. Therefore, there are a few prime considerations you should keep in mind before purchasing any portable table saw.
The Table Top Size – One important thing to consider is how big the table top is. The size of the table top on your saw will essentially determine how big of workpieces can be cut with it.
A good rip capacity for any table saw is around 24 inches (at least for a portable on), so you should look for a minimum of 24 inches of room to the right of the blade.
Keep in mind that some table saws to come with extension wings and rear/front extensions to increase cutting capacity. In other words, you need to consider how big the workpieces are that you will be cutting with your table saw.
On a side note, a good aluminum or steel table top is preferable as they are usually very well manufactured, flat, smooth, and rust and scratch resistant too.
Overall Size & Portability – Another thing to keep in mind before making your purchase is how big the whole saw is. Now, this is kind of similar to our first consideration, but that first one was all about the table top.
This is about the whole saw. This really depends on your needs, we are talking about a portable table saw meant for convenience, so you will want to look for a model that keeps things under 100 pounds (at the very most), and is fairly compact too.
Many table saws do come with a stand, cart, or a combination of both.
Coming with any of the above does make the table saw in question more maneuverable, easier to set up, and convenient for transportation, and therefore does offset the size and weight issue a little bit.
Simply put, just make sure that the table saw you get is not too heavy or big for you to take from one jobsite to another. One thing to remember is that a heavier saw will do a better job at minimizing vibration, so that is a bonus.
Rip Fence & Miter Gauge - Some of the most important things that your table saw will, or at least should come with, are the miter gauge and the rip fence. We already talked about rip capacity above, but here we mean the fence itself.
You need to get a fence that is easy to align, preferably self-aligning, is fairly solid, glides along its rails easily, and securely locks into place. The rip fence is your best friend for ripping sheets and making straight cuts.
You also need a good miter gauge for making accurate crosscuts and angled crosscuts, one that can be easily adjusted for position, and can be easily removed and attached too.
Both of these items should be as high a quality as you can manage to afford as they go a long way in determining how good your cuts are.
The Power & Depth Of Cut – Perhaps one of the most important considerations to make is how much power your saw has. Keep in mind, we are talking about smaller and more portable table saws here, so the power will usually be a little lower than with big models.
However, that being said, a good portable table saw can still muster anywhere from 3,800 to 5,800 blade rotations per minute with a 15 amp motor. Just keep in mind what you will be using the saw for.
The thicker, heavier, denser, and harder the pieces are, the more power you will need to make cuts. Also, you should pay attention to the maximum cutting depth of the table saw in question.
For small and medium projects, you should look for a minimal cutting depth of 2.5 inches, preferably 3 inches.
Safety –The final thing to consider is how safe to use the table saw in question is. Simply put, you want as many safety features to come with your table saw as humanly possible.
Rocker switches, safety overloads, kick switches, splitters, riving knives, and anti-kickback pawls are all great safety features to look for. Keep in mind that most table saws will not come with all of these, but the more they have the better.
After all, the result of your project is important, but nothing is more important than your own safety and physical wellbeing.

A big table saw can be a real pain in the butt in terms of setting it up and transporting it. So, if you are a contractor or handyman, you are not going to want a giant piece of equipment. For this reason, the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw is a good way to go. It’s small and compact, and therefore easy to take from one jobsite to another without having to lug around hundreds of pounds of metal. Don’t worry though, this may be a smaller saw, but it is still fairly powerful, so you don’t have to be concerned about it not being able to cut through thicker materials.

Big Cutting Power – By far one of the best aspects of the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw is that it features a powerful 15 amp motor. This powerful 15 amp motor provides the blade with over 4,800 rotations per minute, which is quite impressive.
For a saw that barely weighs over 50 pounds, having such a powerful motor and fast spinning blade is quite noteworthy.
You do not have to worry about your blade slowing down or getting stuck in that thick and knotty piece of hardwood when you have the powerful Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw on your side.
This high RPM and big power is combined with a 40 tooth carbide tip blade. In other words, you get a very sharp, durable, and damage resistant blade with the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw. For all intents and purposes, you should be able to cut through nearly any workpiece with this particular table saw.
What is also quite impressive about this model is that it has a full 3 inch cutting depth when the blade is raised to its maximum elevation.
It Is Safe To Use – Another thing that we really like about the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw is that it does come with a fair number of useful safety features.
Remember people, it does not take much for one of these table saws to remove some digits from your hands, so having some reliable safety features is always an important factor.
The Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw comes with a rocker switch, which is designed to allow you to turn it off in a heartbeat in case anything goes wrong.
Furthermore, this particular table saw also comes with overload shut off protection and a safety reset switch. Both of these things are vital aspects of any table saw, something which the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw has gotten right.
Moreover, the fact that the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw also comes with a see-through blade guard is nice as well. The blade guard will allow you to be safe and still see your workpiece while cutting.
The same can be said for the anti-kickback pawls which the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw comes with. These are very useful for stopping workpieces from lifting off the table and injuring you.
What we are really getting at is that the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw is very safe to use. Did we forget to mention that both the blade guard and the anti-kickback pawls do not require any tools to attach and remove?
On a side note, you also get a convenient little push stick when you purchase the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw.
The Table Top – Yet another feature of the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw that we really like is the extra-large die cast aluminum table top.
Aluminum may not sound like the best material, especially because you might think of a can of pop, but when it comes to table saws, a nice thick and well worked piece of aluminum is one of the best things you can have.
For one, the aluminum used for the table of the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw is very lightweight, which means that it doesn’t add too much to the overall weight of the saw.
Moreover, this particular table top is also rust and scratch resistant, plus easy to clean as well, all bonuses in our books. Finally, the table top is 24 by 20 inches, which is not huge, but for a table saw of this size, it also is not small.
In other words, you do get a decent amount of space to work with when using the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw.
No, you won’t be cutting huge pieces of plywood and massive boards, but for any smaller or medium purpose the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw will work just fine. 24 inches of rip capacity is nothing to shake your head at, especially when you consider the generally small size, low weight, and great price which the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw comes in at.
Convenient Portability – Something else that stands out about the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw is that it is indeed very convenient for anyone who is always on the go or just has a limited amount of space.
For one, the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw only weight 57 pounds, which is about as light as a table saw can get no matter what. This will definitely make it easy to carry around and move from one jobsite to another.
Moreover, the overall size of the saw is very compact, so setting it up in a small workspace or fitting it into your pickup truck is never going to be a real issues.
Even more convenient is the stand which it comes with. Now, keep in mind that this is not a folding stand. Once you have it put together, you would have to unscrew everything to break it back down.
This may not seem all that convenient, but not needing to find a level, flat, and smooth surface every time you bust out the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw is definitely useful.
When you buy the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw, you always have a great surface to rest it on thanks to the stand that it comes with, which is by the way a strong, durable, and very heavy duty stand.
Great Accuracy – Another thing that makes the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw a great choice to go with is that it comes with a few features that help you make really accurate cuts. One of these features is the self-aligning rip fence.
Now, having a self-aligning rip fence is definitely convenient because you don’t have to waste time aligning it with the blade every time you change its position.
Moreover, the rip fence moves along sliding rails which are easy to navigate, and it locks down securely into place with the clamp locks. In other words, you will be hard pressed to find an easier to use and more accurate rip fence.
Furthermore, the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw also comes with an extra large miter gauge, one that is easily adjustable in terms of position, and is large enough for a wide variety of miter cuts.
Whatever the cut you need to make, the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw will provide you with the accuracy that you need for the best possible results.
Some Extras – An extra which the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw is a dust port. No, it does not come with a whole dust collection unit, but it does give you the ability to attach your own dust collection system for quick cleanup.
The Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw also comes with tons of onboard storage to hold the blade, miter gauge, and push stick too.

Not everybody has the same tastes or the same needs, so let’s talk about a few alternatives to the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw which also make for good portable table saws.
This is a fairly similar model of table saw to go with. One thing that does need to be said is that this Delta Power Tools model is a little bigger and heavier than the Genesis Table Saw.
On one hand, the Delta Power Tools Model does have a little more room to work with, especially thanks to the extra rear extension table that you get with it, plus the blade spins at a couple hundred rotations per minute more than the Genesis model.
On the other hand, the Genesis is lighter, more compact, and therefore a little easier to maneuver. That being said, the Delta Power Tools model does come with a folding stand that has integrated wheels for convenience.
In terms of safety features, the Delta Power Tools model is a little more advanced, but not by much. The Delta Power Tools Portable Table Saw is a great option to consider, but beware that it does also cost a couple hundred bucks more.
Yet another good choice to go with, this model of portable table saw by SKILSAW is definitely reliable.
Right off the bat it should be noted that the SKILSAW model is a little more expensive than the Genesis Table saw, by around 150 bucks. However, the SKILSAW model does also have a slightly higher rip capacity, by a couple of inches. It is not a huge difference, but it is there nonetheless.
Both of these table saws do have a 15 amp motor, but the SKILSAW model has around 500 more blade rotations per minute, which means that it does make quick work out of various pieces.
On one hand, this SKILSAW model is almost a full 20 pounds lighter than the Genesis Table Saw, but it also does not come with any kind of stand, making this kind of a two-way street.
If you need a highly portable and powerful table saw, both the Genesis and SKILSAW make for great choices, with the SKILSAW being a little more powerful, lighter, and having more rip capacity too, but also coming in at a higher price.
This third alternative is also a good portable table saw to consider. While it does not come with any kind of stand or cart, and is a few hundred dollars more expensive than the Genesis Table Saw model listed above, it does have a few awesome features that make it a fantastic alternative.
To be fair, both of these models have a 24 inch rip capacity. Something that does stand out about this DEWALT model is that it has a metal roll cage, something that makes it very durable, which is quite important for a high traffic jobsite.
What is impressive about this DEWALT table saw is that it has an RPM speed of 5,800, which by all means should be able to eat through pretty much anything you feed it.
This DEWALT model is also almost 20 pounds lighter than the Genesis, which makes up for the fact that it doesn’t come with a stand or cart. By any means, they both make for great portable table saw options.
At the end of the day, the Genesis GTS10SB 10-inch Table Saw definitely makes for a fantastic piece of equipment.
It is fairly light and compact, it comes with a stand, it has a whole lot of power, it is extremely accurate, and it comes with a whole bunch of safety features too. Anybody looking for a table saw with a good mix of power, accuracy, and portability, would do well to consider this as the option to go with.
